Zombie Island of Dr. Ned

Fans of the successful first-person shooter role-playing game will have a surprise waiting for them next time they log into their console.

The first downloadable content for Borderlands is available on Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network. It was released November 24, 2009, for 800 Microsoft Points for the Xbox 360 and for US$10 for the PS3.

The new content is titled “The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned” and it tells the story of an experiment gone haywire at the small town of Jakobs Cove. Dr. Ned manages to turn the workers and other inhabitants of the island into monsters and flesh eating zombies. The player must help Dr. Ned to find a cure for the disease and rid the island of the creatures created by the experiment.

The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned offers over 40 quests and several hours of game time, as well as new areas to explore and exclusive loot.

This looks like a solid expansion for the style of play in Borderlands. Zombies are the perfect cannon fodder for first person shooters and they should look awesome with this game’s visual style. This would have rocked back in Halloween with the monsters and zombies, though.

Borderlands is available for the Xbox 360, the PS3 and the PC and it’s rated “Mature” for blood, gore and intense violence.
