Free stuff. I love it. And what could be better than free stuff? More free stuff, of course.
Free Comic Book Day is an annual event that takes place the first Saturday in May (May 2, 2009) to help generate interest in comic books, making it May 2, 2009. Both the biggies and the indies offer some pretty cool print pubs that you can grab for free at your local comic shop. You will need to check the FCBD site for participating stores since some won’t take part in the event since it can be quite a hassle.
Some people may mistakenly believe that every comic is free when, in actuality, only select comics are free. A few stores do have limits on what you can take from the FCBD selection while others use it as an opportunity to clear out some backstock by adding quarter box books and excess comics to the freebie table.
And all that means is that you need to visit multiple stores. (I find it a good and polite practice to buy at least one comic from each store I visit on FCBD.)
There are two notable game-related titles on the agenda (Sonic and Warhammer) as well as a William Shatner book, a Magic: The Gathering sampler, a new Green Lantern comic intro (Blackest Night #0) and a Minimate figure.
