DICE Studio announces Mirror’s Edge
Electronic Arts has another exciting new press release for us. EA DICE, the studio that made the Battlefield series, is developing a new first-person action-adventure game titled Mirror’s Edge.
Owen O’Brien, Senior Producer of the game, commented:
“We want to change the way that players are able to move in first person. No more restrictions, no more being blocked by simple barriers such as walls and fences. We want to enable the player to move like a real person, with the ability to run, jump, vault and slide in a way that has never been seen before in a first person game.”
Calling it an action-adventure game rather than a shooter, the focus of the game will supposedly be on the player rather than on gunplay. It sounds good but we’ll want to see something more than just a vague description.
According to CVG, they’ve seen one screenshot of an Asian girl dressed in “futuristic punk” and holding a pistol. They describe it so vividly it sounds like DICE is keeping the photo to themselves. I’ve been scouring the internet for the screenshot but I’ve been so far unable to find it.
Mirror’s Edge is planned for some unknown time in 2008 for the PC, PS3 and XBox 360.

Good thing DICE decided to get the game out without the annoying DRM. I think it was a good marketing strategy, because the game would be pirated anyway - why bother for adding an extra layer of discomfort to the regular gamer?
