Dead Space Extraction

The Dead Space Extraction PR machine continues rolling towards tomorrow’s release (September 29, 2009). EA and developer Visceral Games have announced a live webcast demo will be held at 12:00 p.m. (PST), September 29, 2009, in honor of the launch. The one-hour webcast will feature demonstrations of Dead Space Extraction‘s gameplay (as if we haven’t all been watching them through their dev diary over the past few months).

Fans will also be invited to participate in a Q&A session with the Visceral team.

Dead Space Extraction is a prequel to 2008’s critically acclaimed third-person action horror game for X360, PS3 and PC platforms: Dead Space.

A Wii exclusive, Dead Space Extraction ups the action through a mix of intuitive controls, co-op gameplay, puzzle-solving and branching pathways. Following the growing Wii trend popularized by hardcore games such as Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles and House of the Dead: Overkill, Dead Space Extraction is an on-the-rails shooter that takes full advantage of the WiiMote’s IR capabilities.

I’m often put off by the hyperbole of such events but it’s obvious that Visceral Games is proud of what they’ve created here. Dead Space Extraction looks to be more cinematic than other rail gun games, focusing more on story and terror than on relentless action…although there’s certainly plenty of action to be found.
