In times when videogames are being anathematized by anti-game activists, one almost tends to forget that it is an art. A lot goes into the making of a videogame and it is when different disciplines – arts in their own right - espouse. One of those disciplines is videogame writing.
The Writers Guild of America (WGA) has, for the first time, bestowed recognition on videogame writing that is rightfully its due. And the PSP game Dead Head Fred was honored with the maiden Video Game Writing Award.
The game won the Video Game Writing Award at the annual Writers Guild Awards on February 9, 2008. The WGA created this award to recognize the brilliance of videogame writers, which previously went unnoticed except for intermittent mentions here and there. It will probably lend them the critical acclaim that will spur them to newer heights and improve their position within the game industry. Kudos to the writers behind the game’s critically acclaimed storyline, Dave Ellis and Adam Cogan, and all other videogame writers that provide the creative powerplant for games
