Dead Head Fred up for an award

by Jenni Lada on Jan 31, 2008 at 07:15 PM

Dead Head Fred

The Writers Guild of America has nominated the Playstation Portable title Dead Head Fred for its first Video Game Writing Award. The storyline authors Dave Ellis and Adam Cogan are both nominated for their work on the title. This is also quite an honor for the game’s development team, Vicious Cycle Software, and publisher, D3 Publisher of America. This new award has been created to honor and highlight writers in a category which is normally forgotten. On February 9, 2008 it will be revealed if Dead Head Fred will emerge victorious among the other nominees, which include Crash of the Titans, The Simpsons Game, The Witcher and World in Conflict.

Since Dead Head Fred was a sleeper hit, many may not be aware just what the title is about. Players act as resurrected detective Fred, whose head just happens to be a brain in a jar. I guess thats a side effect of being killed. Fred then sets off to find out who killed him and get revenge, and some new heads to replace his missing one.

In other Dead Head Fred news, the Mature-rated title recently received quite a price drop. The game, which originally cost around $29.99, can now be bought new for only $14.99. This could be a great opportunity to pick up an award nominee.
