There isn’t any word yet on how big Curly Brace’s part will be in Cave Story, but Joystiq did tell Joystiq that fans won’t have to pay extra to play as her. She’ll be part of the main game download. This is a nice little extra bonus for fans. I mean, who likes paying an additional 200 Nintendo Points ($2) just for the honor of playing as a different character? (That’s right Capcom, I said it.)
The hero, and previously only playable character, in Cave Story is Quote. He’s the amnesiac robot who ends up on the floating island and decides to help save the Mimigas. Curly Brace is also a robot, though she lived on the island already, and was already there helping to protect Mimigas.
The addition of a playable Curly Brace is only one of many new features added to the Wiiware adaptation of Cave Story. There’s a brand new translation, the ability to use the original graphics and music or updated ones and extra game modes like Boss Rush. Look for it March 22, 2010 on the Wii Shop Channel.
