ds lite blue lazytown pirate coverPiracy is one of the biggest problems the video game industry has to deal with. There’s always some hacker out there that can mod a system to play games that were not purchased legally. The latest story dealing with this problem according to MCV comes out of the UK after officials raided the home of a couple who were under investigation for selling fake Nintendo DS consoles as well as games for DS and Gameboy Advance over eBay.

The raid was carried out on January 20, 2009, and led by investigators from Bromley Trading Standards Department and the local authorities. They managed to find 40 fake DS consoles equipped with game copying devices and faulty power units and 150 counterfeit games for both the DS and Gameboy Advance.

Authorities say the couple may have made more than £50,000 (close to US$70,000) in December 2008 alone. This marks the first time an illegal game operation was found working from within the UK.

As of now no one has been arrested in connection to the counterfeit games and consoles.
