505 Games has announced that a sequel to wildy popular cooking sim Cooking Mama: Cook Off is in development and could hit European Wiis and DSes as soon as early 2008. The new game will feature fresh recipes, double the food prep minigames and an all new “cook off” head-to-head mode for intense multiplayer action.
The original Cooking Mama started on the DS last year and took the Wii by storm this past April (2007), boasting excellent sales figures and overwhelmingly positive reviews for its unique gameplay. In the game, players take real life recipes and create works of culinary art by using the WiiMote to chop, shake, sift, roll, and otherwise turn their ingredients into tasty creations under the watch of the game’s namesake, “Mama”.
Nothing has been said yet about a North American release but it’s a pretty safe bet we’ll be chopping virtual onions again soon enough. Wii owners can’t seem to get enough cartoon cooking action.
Meanwhile, the cooking sim has somehow become the “it” genre of this generation. Cooking Mama, Cake Mania, even Odin Sphere, has the culinary fever. What’s next, Rachel Ray’s Super Chef? Alpha moms would certainly eat it up.
