The Command & Conquer series is famous for its cheesy, over-the-top cutscenes. Keeping that in mind, instead of being surprised by this, we should be surprised it hasn’t happened before now. Electronic Arts has announced the full cast list for the downloadable standalone Command & Conquer Red Alert 3: Uprising expansion, including Gemma Atkinson, Malcolm McDowell and yes - Nature Boy Ric Flair.
The WWE Hall of Famer will portray Commander Hill, one of the opponents players will face in the Commanders’ Challenge portion of the game. That challenge allows strategy buffs to test their skills against nine commanders in 50 challenges with unique victory conditions. There is no word on whether combat options against this character include battle royal, two out of three falls match or War Games: The Match Beyond.
Flair recently retired after more than three decades in sports entertainment but he’s still been in the public spotlight. He was scheduled to appear on Secret Talents of the Stars, but that show got canceled after a single episode. Undaunted, Flair’s working on a reality show about helping his son Reid break into the wrestling business. Nobody can say Flair doesn’t know how to keep himself in the spotlight, and his appearance in this game is a big coup in his reinvention.
Command & Conquer Red Alert 3: Uprising is a stand-alone title exclusively for the PC that will be available for digital download in March 2009 for $19.99.
