Activision is teaming up with Konami and Raw Thrills to bring Guitar Hero Arcade to an location near you. The arcade version will be a take on Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock with some things being added and taken out.
Naturally, customizing your character won’t be possible in the arcade scene because it’ll take up way too much time and those quarters won’t insert themselves. The guitar, however, will be a whole new beast unto itself. It’s being developed by Raw Thrills and is a mix between the guitars packaged with Guitar Hero III and World Tour. Basically it will look like the guitar in World Tour only without the slide bar.
One of the main draws to rhythm games are the new songs that steadily become available to download. Guitar Hero Arcade will be enabled to take new songs off the Internet and implement them into game. It’s up to the owners of the arcade cabinet to decide what songs will be added. Chances are different songs will be in specific geographical areas to bring in the most dough.
There will be 25 machines made by the end of 2008 and the full blitz will take effect in January 2009. Raw Thrills is hoping to put Guitar Hero Arcade in the sights of most consumers in the beginning of February 2009.
