Chicago store selling War on Terror outside its market
After Black Sun Games was one of only two stores in America to become a part of TerrorBull Games’ Coalition of the Willing, they got a call from Boston. It was someone who had heard about the board game War on Terror and wanted to buy it.
On the WoT website, until recently, it listed only Black Sun Games as a place where you can get the game without having to import it from Britain. WoT is a satiric board game in the humor of previous games like Nuclear War. The game itself was announced in 2006 and was released 2007. Even with the fun and addictive play, it’s satiric view of modern day politics lead the game to being banned from most major gaming conventions the first year it was out.
For those of you who haven’t yet gone back into the archives, Black Sun Games is nearing the first anniversary (August 26, 2009).
The Coalition of the Willing is a group of distributors and stores that are working to enlighten the world to the beauty of satire, something the British have been good at. So far it’s largely confined to the British Isles, continental Europe and Australia, but slowly it is spreading outwards. As awareness and willingness to sell the game grows, your options on where to get the game from might come closer to you than just Black Sun Games in Chicago, IL, (USA) or Rogues Gallery Comics & Games in Round Rock, TX (USA). Until then your options are seeing if either store would be willing to ship it to you or buying it directly from the source and waiting for it to cross the ocean to get to you.
Either way, more options will be opening up for you soon enough if you haven’t already gotten into the game. Check it out. Enjoy the satire and remember: If you don’t laugh about the world on occasion, all you’re going to do is cry.
