CES: Xbox Live reaches major milestone and announces additional content
During one of the Microsoft’s CES 2008 presentations, the company’s president of Entertainment and Devices Division, Robbie Bach, announced two major achievements for Xbox Live. The first dealt with the unexpected success of the service. Xbox Live now has 10 million subscribers, and reached this figure during the December holidays. GameDaily’s James Brightman reports that Xbox Live had only 8 million subscribers in November.
The second major announcement was the recent partnerships between Microsoft and both Disney-ABC and MGM-United Artists. Both Disney-ABC and MGM will allow Microsoft to distribute tv shows and movies over Xbox Live Video Marketplace. Game Daily reports that some of the movies and tv shows which will be available in the coming months from both sources include Lost, Grey’s Anatomy, Kyle XY, Hannah Montana, Silence of the Lambs, Legally Blonde, Barbershop and Rain Man.
With that many users now accessing Xbox Live, it is no wonder that major studios and networks would be willing to partner with Microsoft. It is likely that the coming months will bring more networks and companies who will wish to distribute their shows and movies through the service.

Now all we need is a Hannah Montana game!
on March 6, 2008 at 10:35 AM - LINKHi Hannah Montana. I’m sure that this deal means that your favorite Disney television shows, including the popular Hannah Montana series, will appear on the Xbox 360.
In fact, since Hannah Montana is one of Disney’s most popular shows and it has enjoyed success on other consoles, it wouldn’t be surprising if Disney released a Hannah Montana Xbox 360 game as well.
