capcom logoCapcom recently released information about the six upcoming games for the first half of 2009 and it looks it will be a strong year.

Thew first release on the list of games is FLOCK! for the Xbox 360. FLOCK! puts you in charge of a UFO herding animals to your mothership. The game, since it will be an arcade game like Luxor and Feeding Frenzy, will feature controls that even the most casual gamer would be able to just pick up and play the game right off the bat. This is promising since quite a few games lately tend to have pretty awkward and confusing control schemes.

The Street Fighter franchise is returning to consoles on February 17, 2009, with a PC version following at an unspecified date. Street Fighter IV is returning with your favorite characters as well as new characters that may or may not become likable, fun to play or memorable. Apparently most of the really new stuff will be console-only. There will also be new special moves added to the mix for all characters. The environment will also play a larger part in the gameplay this time around which should make things very interesting, even for veteran players.

Also in February 2009, Dead Rising is returning, this time to the Wii. It’s pretty much going to be the same game only this time with motion sensitive controls. The Wii remote will allow you to get in on the zombie-smashing action in a more interactive way. Just don’t accidentally throw the Wii remote. On February 23, Dead Rising: Chop ‘Till You Drop will be released to the public.

Resident Evil 5 will be bringing the Resident Evil franchise back into the mainstream picture. Resident Evil 5 will be following a similar premise to Resident Evil 4, only change Spain to Africa and change the main character from Leon Kennedy from Resident Evil II and Resident Evil IV to Chris Redfield from the original game. It will also be set up for online and co-op play.

Also in March 2009, a new MotoGP game is going to be released. It’s going to a standard racing game for the Wii. It will be released to coincide with the 2009 MotoGP season. The game will have three different race styles as well as different handling models and AI rider settings to make the game accessible to the most seasoned biking race gamer or new gamers equally.

To close of the list they added Bionic Commando to the list. It is a true sequel to the original retro game with some next-gen styling to it. The game will be released for the Xbox 360 and the PS3 sometime within the first half of the year. The swing mechanic of the original game will still be in this one. With the next-gen facelift though, you will be able to use a bionic arm to swing through larger areas from skyscraper to skyscraper. You’ll also be able to punch cars, grab and either pummel or throw opponents from great distances making the game a bit more tactical than its original conception.

So far it looks like Capcom is going to be on a big start this year. Let’s see how they’re going to do throughout the entire year.
