The Wii is finally getting some action, literally, as Capcom just announced that it will be releasing the sequel to Resident Evil: The Umbrella Cronicles (RETUC) exclusively on the Nintendo Wii and plans to release remakes of two classic Resident Evil titles.
The chronological predecessor to RETUC is titled Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles (RETDC) and will be based on the original Resident Evil 2 (released on the PSOne) story following familiar paths of characters Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield.
Retaining its first-person shooter format, RETDC promises more closure in regards to the missing pieces of storyline not previously covered in RETUC. In addition, RETDC provides hardcore fans an opportunity to re-experience Resident Evil 2 in an intense new light while utilizing the advanced interactive gameplay that only the Wii can provide.
Also featured in this new installment are the new command to evade enemies and the ability to fight side by side with a friend via two-player co-op mode. However, in case you have no friends, the AI will gladly step up to fill that social void.
Capcom’s new Resident Evil “Classics” line aims to deliver the timeless experience of Resident Evil games of the past to the Wii audience. These games will be moderately priced at $29.99 a pop and include remakes of the very first Resident Evil (PSOne) as well as Resident Evil Zero (Gamecube). Both of these games have been reconstructed in order to be able to incorporate the innovation of the WiiMote allowing both players of new and old to experience the immersive storyline on a brand new gaming platform.
