I think we all pretty much knew after Dead Rising‘s success that Capcom was going to be working on a sequel. Now, we’re positive. Capcom’s just announced Dead Rising 2 for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
Details are still sketchy, and a release window hasn’t been revealed. However, Blue Castle Games will be involved with developing Dead Rising 2 in conjunction with Capcom and some original Dead Rising development team members.
Dead Rising 2 will also not be taking place in a mall. Actually, it will be taking place someplace much, much cooler - a casino. Or, perhaps a whole gambling town - the press release isn’t that clear, really. It just states that now we’ll get to kill zombies in the “gambling paradise Fortune City.” So it could be either/or, really. I guess we’ll know when Capcom decides to tease us with more information.
Apparently, that zombie outbreak in Dead Rising wasn’t an isolated incident. That virus wasn’t contained in Willamette, so now anytime, anywhere, zombies can suddenly pop up and a new brain buffet can open.
