EA is celebrating the 20-year anniversary of the Madden NFL franchise as Madden NFL 09 prepares to ship out on August 12, 2008, for PS2, PS3, PSP, Wii, DS, Xbox and Xbox 360. This is a milestone that EA feels needs to be celebrated in Madden’s gameplay. What better way to rub your touchdown pass into the face of your opponent that with a victory dance? EA has that one covered.
Instead of watching pre-rendered end zone taunts, players can now participate in a customized victory dance mini-game. After scoring, a marker will be placed on the endzone that shows the player where to stand. Once there a button matching sequence will occur that shows either dance moves, or impressive aerial maneuvers. The kinds of moves available will be specific to each player so don’t expect to see the same things very often.
Madden ‘09 will have a whopping 85 new gameplay features including the Madden IQ system. This system is set up to determine how good of a player you really are. After going through 12 drills the game decides what your Madden IQ is and changes the difficulty accordingly. Basically, you don’t have to be a hardcore Madden player to enjoy playing through a season. When the game is done the option of viewing your mistakes and abilities can be accessed through the built in EA Sports Backtrack system. It’s a great way to hone in on strengths and weaknesses just like a head coach would do.
