Burnout Paradise getting another free update

by Jeremy Hill on Jan 25, 2009 at 10:57 AM

Burnout RestartCriterion Games is known for delivering frequent updates to it’s smash hit <

i>Burnout Paradise. Since its release we’ve seen Trophies, motorcycles, day/night cycles and even an update to the menus style.

The next free update will comes to us on February 6, 2009, along with the not so free Burnout Paradise Party Pack. This free update isn’t as massive as the previous ones but it does address some in-game issues and adds the highly requested restart option that was left out of Burnout Paradise since its release.

The first change we’ll notice on PS3 or PC is the use of the system’s browser to access the Criterion Games Network. Criterion promises to further elaborate on this feature next week.

An in-game store is being added so we can purchase content such as the Party Pack, Legendary Cars or Big Surf Island straight from the main menu or from the easy drive menu.

Criterion also tweaked some of the first available vehicles to make them easier to handle for beginners. The cars will be slower but they’re also harder to crash and less likely to spin out. The cars in the junkyard are easier to compare and can be separated into categories to make choosing much easier.

The rest of the update makes changes to some of the game modes to streamline performance. The timer in Road Rage no longer gets more time when the target takedown number is met and the timer in Stunt Run counts down slower than before. All those billboards and Super Jumps now glow to make them easier to spot when traveling at high speeds.
