I contacted Wade Tinney, co-founder of Large Animal Games, to find out more about the changes.
“Hi Lucy, Thanks for reaching out! Here is a rundown of the changes to the game: On the game play side, we completely re-programmed the game and put in a more robust physics engine,“ Tinney wrote. “There were some rare situations in the original version where a Bumper Star could get caught forever between a wall and some bumpers. That should never happen now. You can now see information about other players by clicking on their profile picture in the leader board area.“
Tinney said that, at the end of the challenge, players can now leave messages for their opponents that shows up as a voice bubble by their profile in the challenge results.
Another feature are 14 new bumper stars including Barack Obama and John McCain which is now available for purchase, Tinney said within four days of its launch September 24, 2008, more than 776 users have already purchased Obama and 224 purchased McCain.
Tinney said the challenges within the game are much easier to get to now without the hassle of unloading or reloading the original flash game each time. For instance, you now earn achievements for clearing all the fruit or bumpers in a single shot.
“However, the most important change of all will become apparent over the coming months. The real reason we went to the trouble of rebuilding the game is so that we can start adding new content and features on a regular and frequent basis,“ Tinney said. “So, you’ll start to see new Bumper Stars and new features pop up every week or two.“
Tinney also hinted at a multiplayer mode for the game in the future and challenges Gamertell readers to give it a try as well as try one of their new bowling game Lucky Strike Lanes.
