The sequel to one of 2007’s best games (and biggest hits), BioShock, is getting closer and closer, and we’re finally starting to see a trickle of details from developer 2K Marin. MTV Multiplayer recently posted a few tasty morsels, via the oh-so-popular Game Informer feature on the game.
So, if you enjoyed playing as a Big Daddy towards the end of the first title, and you liked the plasmids and guns customizable combat - you’re in luck. The prequel will put players in the huge, hulking boots of the very first Big Daddy, and thus you’re able to use plasmids as well as your trusty, high-powered drill. The plasmid system itself has apparently received an overhaul, with upgrades changing the power’s use (the example given was incinerate, which starts out as it does in the first game, but the upgraded version allows you to throw fireballs).
Also - get ready for multiplayer. I have no idea exactly how this will be implemented - but imagine how cool it would be if you could roam around water/oil filled arenas with a full range of plasmid powers, able to fry/freeze/flash/smash the crap out of your enemies. Bliss!
As soon as we get more details, you’ll hear all about it. Until then, I’ll go play through the original for the umpteenth time. A man chooses!
