Battle unemployment with Job Island on Wii

by Danielle Riendeau on Nov 11, 2008 at 11:23 AM

Job Island
Are you looking for a new mini game collection for your Wii? One that’s centered on the idea of jobs and saving the world by… working together? Well, kiss your lucky stars, because Konami has just announced Job Island - formerly known as Hard Working People. I’m going to let the press release tell you about the story mode, which sounds bizarrely like real life:

“In Story Mode, the player is charged with taking on a diverse range of jobs and out-performing those around you to accrue money. Players browse the in-game ads to find jobs they are interested in, with careers ranging from body-building, cooking, cameraman, ER Attendant, deep-sea explorer, stunt person, make up artist and so on. Each chosen profession has three difficulty levels and enjoys a dedicated sub-game where players compete against friends, with the most successful awarded the day’s pay.“

So, I wonder why they didn’t call it “real life, only with mini games” I guess it wouldn’t sell as well, though. The game is due out in March 2009, and will likely be a pretty good bet for families with young kids - in fact, if it comes out well, it may be a nice introduction for little ones to various professions. We shall see.
