Two PS2 game announcements has to be good news for an owner of a system which is nearing retirement. Arcana Heart, an all girl fighting game which has been compared to the Guilty Gear series in terms of control and gameplay, is going to be released in North America. Atlus has announced that it will be bringing this game to American shores on April 8, 2008.
Arcana Heart features 11 different female fighters teaming up with elemental beings to fight. So when you start a battle you choose your fighter, and then you choose your Arcana. Oh, and only women can team up with Arcana, which explains the absence of Y chromosomes and testosterone. This title is a full edition which actually contains two games: Arcana Heart and Arcana Heart FULL.
If you visit the Arcana Heart main page Atlus has created for the game, you’ll be surprised to see that none of the characters are that scantily clad. Based on the description, you’d expect it to all be half-naked women and fan service (Dead or Alive), but it really isn’t bad or trashy at all. The skirts are a bit short, but they look like normal, decently dressed women. That combined with positive, five star reviews of the Japanese version of the game on Play-Asia make this title worth a look.
