Apogee springs back into action, teases us with Duke Nukem
![]()
Apogee Software Ltd has woken up from its deep slumber and announced Duke Nukem Trilogy for PSP and DS handhelds. But it hasn’t bothered with any worthwhile details of Duke Nukem Trilogy, and there is no word on Duke Nukem Forever that has been in development for the past 11 years. All we know is that Apogee will start releasing new Duke Nukem chapters beginning Summer 2009 for the two handhelds. The three chapters are named Critical Mass, Chain Reaction and Proving Ground.
Apogee frugally revealed the following details about the upcoming chapters:
- 9 Different World Locations
- 36 Action-Packed Levels
- 3D Accelerated Graphics
- 3D Characters with Detailed Textures
- Real-Time Particle and Lighting Effects
- Multi-Mode Play with up to 5 Different Styles of Game Play Action
- Multi-Player Action
- Total Ass-Kicking Weapons
The publisher which pioneered the shareware gaming model has under its belt a title that has been under development for the past 11 years. It announced Duke Nukem Forever in 1997 but the game is still nowhere to be seen, though it has sporadically revealed a few tidbits about the game. Given Apogee’s track record, one wouldn’t be advised to set sights on Duke Nukem Trilogy yet.
