The animated classic The Lord of the Rings by Ralph Bakshi, director of films including Cool World and Fritz the Cat, is being digitally remastered and will be released in a new deluxe edition care of Warner Bros.
The film has been redone with New Dolby 5.1 audio and picture quality and will be distributed as a single disc DVD and Blu-ray combo, which features a Blu-ray, DVD and bonus digital copy. Also available for digital download.
The newly remastered film will be on Blu-ray and DVD with a running time of 134 minutes. It will include some new content, including a never before seen interview with Ralph Bakshi titled "Forging Through The Darkness: The Ralph Bakshi Vision for The Lord Of The Rings." In this feature he will talk about his concept for creating an illustrated film, his pioneering rotoscoping process and inspirations for his visual storytelling.
The film will be available April 6, 2010, on DVD for $19.98 and Blu-ray for $29.99.
