Amazon.com feels your pain and phobias and is offering Release-Date Delivery service on select pre-ordered games.
Release-Date Delivery is currently being offered for Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, Tiger Woods PGA Tour ‘09, Fable 2 and Gears of War 2. The way the policy is worded, it sounds as if Amazon might also offer the service for other items on the site as well. This speedy delivery service isn’t free, of course, unless you happen to be an Amazon Prime member which requires a $79 annual membership fee.
If you’re not an Amazon Prime member, expect to pay $5.95 extra to ensure you receive your game on the day it’s released while you comfortably wait at home in your underwear. Release-Date Delivery is only available for orders being sent to the 48 contiguous states (sorry Alaska and Hawaii) and you can only order one copy of each title.
