Here’s another goodie from E3 2007 to entice the appetites of flight simulator fans. Xbox 360 owners can now download and play a free demo of Namco Bandai’s Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation from Xbox Live. The game will be released on October 23, 2007, and will ship with a limited edition package that includes a throttle and joystick peripherals.
I sat down to play the demo and quickly fell into a fighter-pilot trance that lasted for more than two hours. As some of the more astute readers may have realized, I’m something of a flight sim junkie and I definitely got my fix last night (July 11, 2007). The demo is really short, it only takes about five to ten minutes to play through but the graphics are so stunning that I found myself flying around just for the pure fun of it, ignoring the choppers and bombers that were merrily destroying my city. Sorry about that innocent civilians. My bad.
Ace Combat 6 is the latest in a series of promising looking flight simulators that the developers waited until 2007 to spring on us (why are the so cruel?) Here’s a my flight simulator whish list for the year: Project Sylpheed, Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation, Battlestar Galactica and Wing Commander Arena. Oh, and if anyone has an extra $150 dollars laying around I wouldn’t mind having that ACE-EDGE flightstick bundle either. Go download the demo and see if you can fly under the bridge.
