SNK Playmore is following the lead of Sega, Midway, EA and Capcom, as the company has just announced it will be releasing SNK Arcade Classics: Volume 1. The game, which will be released on both the Playstation 2 and Playstation Portable, will feature 16 games (seven of them fighters). SNK Playmore has stated that the title should be available before the end of Q2, 2008. Go Nintendo also reports that the game will appear on the Wii, despite the SNK Playmore press release making no mention of it.

SNK Arcade Classics: Volume 1 features quite a few must-have titles. The classic fighting games Art of Fighting, Fatal Fury, King of Fighters ‘94 and Samurai Shodown are all included. Plus three more famous titles, Metal Slug, Sengoku and Neo Turf Masters, are included as well. Then there are the classics which you have trouble remembering, like Baseball Stars 2, Burning Fight, King of the Monsters, Last Resort, Magician Lord, Shock Troopers, Super Sidekicks 3, Top Hunter and World Heroes. Of course the fighting games alone make this title worthwhile.

This means I’ll be buying yet another compilation title for my PSP. Already there’s Sega Genesis Collection, Midway Arcade Treasures Extended Play, EA Replay,  Capcom Classics Collection Reloaded and Capcom Classics Collection Remixed. And there’s no way it can be avoided, a single disc with all these classic SNK games must be bought.
