101 free games, what’s not to like

Every year, the good people at 1Up (namely, Scott Sharkey) put together a wonderful, wonderful list of good, free videogames. This year’s edition came out today, and it’s a doozy. There are more than 101 games on offer, across the strategy, platformer, shoot-em-up, puzzle, adventure/RPG and action/arcade genres, with an aptly-titled “WTF” category on the side. It’s pretty comprehensive, and seriously deserves a bookmark.
From the article:
“Times are tough, sure. Nobody got a raise and ain’t nobody complaining on account of well, they still have a job and would like to keep the thing. Belts tighten and we start cutting down on luxuries. On the up side, videogaming doesn’t have to be one of them”
It’s a godsend for those of us who are hurting from gaming “over-purchasing” or worse - the crappy economy.
I’m particularly happy to see Scarygirl get some love - it’s a truly gorgeous, polished platformer with puzzle elements and amazing art. If you haven’t given it a shot, you’re missing out on one of the coolest games of 2010, let alone one of the coolest free games. Try it out on the game’s site.
Keep up with the latest gaming goodness! -
