Hardcore Wii Franchise #2: The Legend of Zelda

The Legend of Zelda series is the reason we own Nintendo systems. That’s right, I’ve said it. You can keep your Mario. It’s the Zelda games that keep us enthralled for weekseven months at a time as we work our way through amazing adventures in Hyrule. Without fail, the games in the Zelda franchise have been epic in scope (well, CD-i games not withstanding), which is why we wait with baited breath at every Nintendo press conference for the announcement of a new Zelda game.
Hardcore Wii Franchise #3: Metroid

From the operating table to the depths of space we go as we continue our quest for Wii franchises that’ll launch new gamers into the realm of hard core. Metroid is one of those rare games that has grown comfortably with the times. Since switching to 3D, the games have always been hampered by somewhat cumbersome controls. Freed from this limitation by the Wiimote/Nunchuck combo, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption suddenly performed the way its protagonistbounty hunter Samus Aranis portrayed: quick, fluid, and natural.
Hardcore Wii Franchise #4: Trauma Center

If you’re ready to dig deep into some Wii games that offer some depth, some hard core gameplay and somewhere to go after getting one done, you’re in the right place. Yesterday, we looked at the Fire Emblem series. Today, we’re rushing to the Trauma Center…
Hardcore Wii Franchise #5: Fire Emblem

I picked up my first Fire Emblem gameRadiant Dawnduring one of the WiiGaps soon after the system’s release (WiiGaps being those periods where nothing new of note has been released or will be in the immediate future). I didn’t like it at first, but after going back to it a bit later, I was hooked. Completely enthralled…
Top 5 hardcore Wii franchises (for gamers ready to do more than bowl) - (updated)

Maybe you’re young, and when looking for your first gaming console, the Wii was the cheapest. Maybe you saw grandma and grandpa bowling at the retirement home, and thought, “Hey, this is for me!” Maybe your mom prefers you play fewer games with about killing zombies, nazis, or zombie nazis. No matter what the reason, you’ve got a Wii, you’ve played all the Marios, and you want to graduate to hardcore. So, where do you turn?
Gamertell Review: Wii Sports Resort for Wii

Wii Sports Resort may at times come off like a tech demo for the new Wii MotionPlus accessory, but is there anything wrong with that? By offering nearly 1:1 motion capturing, reflecting motions in a 3D space, the Wii MotionPlus brings a level of control to your WiiMote that simply wasn’t possible before. And that brings games to your Wii that weren’t this fun before. And yet, it’s not the Wii MotionPlus that makes Wii Sports Resort so great.
Gamertell Review: Resident Evil Archives: Resident Evil for Wii

Here we are with Resident Evil Archives: Resident Evil. The game is 13 years old, although only 7 years older than the Game Cube remake it more closely resembles. Sadly, Resident Evil is showing its age. Not in appearance, mind youthe game actually looks quite goodbut in how it feels. How it moves around. And yet, it remains a “must-play” for fans of survivor/horror games.
Gamertell Review: The Conduit for Wii
Remember Collective Soul? They had those massive hits in the early-to-mid-90s and they still put out pretty good albums even if radio largely ignores them. I don’t play my Collective Soul CDs often but, when I do, I think, “You know, this is a very good band. As solid as you want a rock band to be. I should listen to them more often.” Then, I promptly forget about them again.
That’s exactly how I feel about Sega’s The Conduit for Wii.
Gamertell Review: Henry Hatsworth in the Puzzling Adventure for DS
Henry Hatsworth in the Puzzling Adventure is one of the most unique games I’ve played in quite some time. Much as Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords successfully merged the puzzle game and the RPG, Henry Hatsworth combines the puzzle action of games such as Tetris Attack, Bejeweled, or any derivation thereof with the platform gaming of Mario Brothers, Mega Man and such. The marriage of the two genres is seamless, although difficult to manage at first.
Gamertell Review: Suikoden Tierkreis for DS
Konami’s Suikoden Tierkreis is classified as a role-playing game but I think you have to throw the word “epic” in there to do it justice.
It’s epic in size, epic in scope, and epic in design. If you take advantage of the WiFi features, the game gets even bigger. It’s just huge and yet it constantly remains centered around one hyperactive boy and more than 100 of his dearest friends.
