The multiple identities of Jason Bourne
The game, The Bourne Conspiracy, is an intriguing middle ground between the book and the movie. It focuses directly on the events of the movie while having flashback missions that mirror both the book and movie The Bourne Identity. It also managed to throw in some new material that was refreshing, yet faithful to the visceral standard of Bourne action. Some of the targets in the flashbacks are one that are either brought up as falsely attributed assassinations in the book (since in the book Jason Bourne only kills one person before he loses his memory).

Gamertell Review: The Horus Heresy: Descent of Angels by Mitchel Scanlon
![]()
Title: The Horus Heresy: Descent of Angels
Author: Mitchel Scanlon
Publisher: The Black Library
Release Date: 2007
Price: $7.99
Rating: Two thumbs sideways, 73/100, C, ** out of five.
Pros: Great character development, exciting when the story isn’t slowed down by itself, gives a completely different view of the events of the Horus Heresy
Cons: The story takes too long to develop.
Overall: It’s a fresh perspective in the series that just didn’t realize its potential.
Even at its lowest point, The Horus Heresy had never put out a truly average installment. That’s what I would be saying if Descent of Angels didn’t fall flat on its face by bringing an entirely new view on the Heresy…
Not so Inconceivable: Author hopes game will increase interest in books
There seems to be a recent trend in turning books into movies or video games. In an attempt to turn at least part of the trend back on itself, one writer is working books into games.
According to an article in the New York Times, author PJ Haarsma was writing a sci-fi story marketed toward preteens that he wanted to present in a new way. So he coupled it with an online game. The book series and game is The Softwire’s Rings of Orbis. The first book is out and the online game is already up and running at The Softwire’s Rings of Orbis. The online PC game will be…
Piracy slowly killing PC games
In May 2008, Crytek announced that it will be abandoning PC exclusivity due to problems with pirated copies of Crysis. Now, Ubisoft Shanghai creative director Michael de Plater revealed to Videogaming247 reasons why the copany won’t bring the anticipated EndWar to the PC.
Ubisoft has been having such big problems with piracy of Assassin’s Creed that they sued the disc’s manufacturers, Optical Experts Manufacturing. This is because the PC-version was leaked to the public two months before the…
How To: Build decks for Two-Headed Giant (2HG) Magic tournaments
In the past I’ve been asked how to create good Magic team decks. While I am not an authority, I have been a competitive player for two years and competed in multiple 2HG (Two-Headed Giant) tournaments including Pro-Tour Qualifiers. I’ve noticed some things that work really well so here are some tips that can work wonders on the table…
Gamertell Review: Warhammer: Empire in Chaos by Anthony Reynolds
Title: Empire in Chaos
Author: Anthony Reynolds
Publisher: The Black Library
Release Date: Sept. 2008
Price: $7.99
Rating: Two thumbs sideways, 74/100, C, ** out of five.
Pros: Quick pace, strong character development.
Cons: The book is occasionally lacking in development of settings and events. Progression of events are brutally predictable and occasionally ends up more tiresome to read in its rough spots.
Overall: If you’re going to buy the book wait a while for it to come to a used book store.
Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000 usually have these incredible story lines that have very few flaws in the way they are delivered. The book Empire in Chaos, based on the MMO Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning, is not one of the higher notes of Warhammer lore.

Gamertell Review: The Horus Heresy: Fulgrim by Graham McNeill
Title: The Horus Heresy: Fulgrim
Author: Graham McNeill
Publisher: The Black Library
Release Date: 2007
Price: $7.99
Rating: Two thumbs up, 90/100, B+, **** out of five.
Pros: Quick pace, gives more explanation to different events, develops all major characters wonderfully, fixes most of the problems that popped up with False Gods
Cons: Some of the flaws from False Gods only to a lesser extent.
Overall: It starts the latter half of the series so far with the same punch that Horus Rising had.
Fulgrim is the fifth book in the Horus Heresy series. It is also the second best book in the sci-fi adaptation of Paradise Lost.

Warhammer Online Age of Reckoning goes live
On September 18, 2008, the servers for Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning (WAR) went live in North America, Europe and the Oceanic territories. Now that the game is out of the beta stage and is open for public consumption, players are invited to join in the mayhem.
WAR is the grim MMORPG version of a gothic world that has literally gone to Hell. Some parts of the world may have once been a paradise. However, wars between anyone who can fight and the forces of Chaos have essentially put the world on a path raging toward ruin.
As shown to those who participated in the beta version of WAR, it will be played like a mixture of..

Gamertell Review: The Horus Heresy: Flight of the Eisenstein by James Swallow

Title: Flight of the Eisenstein
Author: James Swallow
Publisher: The Black Library
Release Date: 2007
Price: $7.99
Rating: Two thumbs up, 90/100, B+, **** out of five.
Pros: Quick pace with stronger writing than False Gods and Galaxy in Flames, gives a new view to the events of Horus’s betrayal, develops most of the major characters wonderfully
Cons: The writing a bit awkward in some points. It could do a better job developing all of the major characters equally.
Overall: It’s a good read. When the writing isn’t awkward it’s also a surprisingly quick read.
Flight of the Eisenstein is one of the better written parts of a truly epic series of game based fiction. Being the first book in The Horus Heresy that follows a legion other than Warmaster Horus Lupercal’s Luna Wolves, it is also one that manages to keep things fresh by adding a new perspective.
