Hey Naysayers: Gaming is undeniably educational

by Jessica Moen on Oct 31, 2008 at 12:21 PM

kids gamingI’m sick and tired of people saying that video games are a waste of time and that people are unintelligent for playing them. It’s just not true. The only people who say that are people who have never played a game and don’t realize what really goes into it. I think games are very much educational and should not be shunned.

First, playing video games involves a lot of thought and strategy. Each game has a completely different set of rules that you have to learn and follow. Now you can either sit and read the instruction booklet or you could…

Strong Bad’s Cool Game for Attractive People Episode 3, Baddest of the Bands is now out for the PC and Wii. As always, it involves Strong Bad destroying the lives of everyone around him for his own benefit.

In this episode, Strong Bad’s video game system, aka “the fun machine,” breaks down. Oh nos! So he brings it to Bubs to get fixed. Bubs tells him that it will cost a ton of money, which of course SB doesn’t have. So the only logical way he sees to raise the money is to hold a “baddest of the bands” concert…

2Bits: Keep those E3 doors closed

by Jessica Moen on Oct 28, 2008 at 09:01 AM

E3 should not be open to the public. It is a convention for people in the gaming industry. Period.

Though it would be nice to let anyone go to this convention, if they allow that to happen then E3 will basically end up becoming the next Comic-Con which means thousands and thousands of people, crowded around an already cramped convention center (many carrying pointy sticks, mind you).

People go to E3 to have intelligent conversations with…

by Jessica Moen on Oct 8, 2008 at 02:40 PM

Pwn or Die is a website dedicated to just gaming and gaming videos. Not so much birds…

by Jessica Moen on Oct 7, 2008 at 03:26 PM

adult gamersThe two biggest stereotypes when it comes to gamers are a) that they are kids and b) they are males. A recent study put out by, IBISWorld, Inc. (one of the nation’s most respected independent publishers of business intelligence research), indicates that the complete opposite it true.

According to the study, the average purchaser of games in the U.S. is 39, which means these adults started playing video games when they were teenagers and haven’t stopped. As if that’s not enough,  24% of current gamers today are…
