Black Friday 2009: Walmart’s video game sale items revealed

by Jenni Lada on Nov 18, 2009 at 01:26 PM

Walmart Black Friday 2009 ad scanThe ad that perhaps every Black Friday 2009 shopper has been waiting for has been leaked onto the internet. Walmart’s 2009 Black Friday ad has been scanned in and is ready for your critical perusal. From what I’ve seen of the ad, it looks like Walmart is going to be the main destination for a lot of people searching for toys this Christmas season. There’s a whole page with $5 toys. The page showing over 100 $2 DVDs on Friday, November 27, 2009 looks pretty intriguing as well.

There will be a doorbuster period, and it will last from 5am to 11am on Friday, November 27, 2009. So, let’s see what doorbusters are available first. The front page of the ad shows three doorbuster TVs, a $248 Emerson 32” 720p HDTV, a $449 Emerson 42” Plasma 720p HDTV and a $790 Sony Bravia 46” 1080p LCD HDTV. There will also be DS lites for $98. You can get a $128 Sansui 19” LCD HDTV or a $598 Sanyo 50” Plasma 720p HDTV during that time period. There will also be a HP Pavillion p6243w-b desktop computer with Windows 7, AMD, 3gb memory and 320gb hard drive for $398, a HP G60-519wm laptop computer with Windows 7, Intel, 3gb memory and 250gb hard drive for $298 and a eMachines eME627 laptop with Windows 7, AMD, 2gb memory and 160gb hard drive for $198.

There’s one more bit of good news. Sit down for this. See the front page of the ad? It says, and I quote, “Our stores will match the price of any local competitor’s printed ad for an identical product.” It may be a good idea to make Walmart your place to shop this Black Friday.

And now, on to the general video game sales…

Video game deals in Kmart’s Thanksgiving 2009 sale ad

by Jenni Lada on Nov 18, 2009 at 01:24 PM

Kmart Thanksgiving 2009 sale ad scanWhat’s almost as good as a Black Friday sale ad? A Thanksgiving sale ad! Kmart’s Thanksgiving 2009 sale ad has been leaked onto the internet, and is now available for your viewing pleasure. Many Kmart stores are going to be open from 7am to 9pm on November 26, 2009, in case you feel like getting your shopping done early after a meal with loved ones. If you live in Massachusetts, Maine or Rhode Island, don’t bother heading to your local stores - they’ll be closed.

There are no doorbusters, so no need to worry about waiting in line or getting to the store obscenely early. Well, if there’s something you really want, you may want to stop by early just to make sure it is still in stock. You never know, those $9.99 Snuggies could fly off store shelves.

Let’s check out the video game and electronic deals in the ad. Be advised, there will be also be $14.99 and under value games on sale in addition to the deals below, but the selection will vary depending on the store so no specific games are mentioned.

Lufia series headed to the DS

by Jenni Lada on Nov 18, 2009 at 12:01 PM

Famitsu November 19, 2009 Estpolis The Lands Cursed by the Gods Lufia DSLast week, Famitsu revealed that the next issue would reveal new information on the Lufia series of games, called Estpolis in Japan. This week, as promised, the November 19, 2009 issue of Famitsu revealed pretty much everything you’d need to know about Square Enix’s Estpolis: The Lands Cursed by the Gods.

First of all, it’s a DS game. So much for thoughts of an epic console RPG. It’ll be out February 25, 2010 in Japan, but a North American release hasn’t been confirmed or denied yet. Neverland, who created most of the original Lufia games and is well known for the recent Rune Factory series, is once again the developer, as Famitsu hinted at in its original article. Neverland is also making it an action RPG this time around, so it’ll be more like the Legend of Zelda or Ys games. Previous entries in the series were all turn-based.

1Up is also the first to report that Estpolis: The Lands Cursed by the Gods is a reimagining of the SNES game Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals

Toys R Us sale going on November 20-21, 2009

by Jenni Lada on Nov 17, 2009 at 03:33 PM

Toys R Us November 20-21, 2009 adJust checked my mailbox and lo and behold, there’s a new Toys R Us sales flier. The latest sale runs from Friday, November 20, 2009 until Saturday, November 21, 2009. It looks like Toys R Us is really trying to get people in the buying mood before Black Friday 2009!

First, there’s going to be a doorbuster sale from 3pm Friday until 1pm Saturday. Unfortunately, there’s only one video game doorbuster deal. And its most likely not the kind of video game you’re all interested in. Four Leapfrog Leapster games, Sonic X, Math Missions, I Spy Challenger and The Incredibles, will be $12.49 each.

There are quite a few general game deals though, that will be going on during the whole weekend sale. First, all video game strategy guides will be 50% off the normal price and all clothing and video game accessories with Mario on it will be 25% off the normal price. There are also quite a few DS and Wii video games on sale.

Here’s what you’ll be able to find on sale this weekend at Toys R Us…

Atlus piecing together 3D Dot Game Heroes

by Jenni Lada on Nov 17, 2009 at 02:38 PM

#D Dot Game Heroes AtlusSilicon Studio and From Software’s retro-style, action-rpg adventure 3D Dot Game Heroes gathered a lot of attention in Japan, both before and after it’s November 5, 2009 release date. People were especially enamored with the hero creator tool, and took great pleasure in posting images of custom heroes created.

Thankfully, North American audiences will also be able to experience that same thrill. Atlus has announced that the company is going to publish the game in North America on May 11, 2010. It’ll cost $39.99, not bad for a PS3 game.

3D Dot Game Heroes has a classic, action RPG storyline. Dotnia Kingdom was saved probably centuries ago from the Dark King Onyx, and everyone thought that was the end of their troubles. Except now a Dark Bishop named Fuelle has stolen an orb that has Dark King Onyx sealed inside. Players step into the shoes of a hero, which they can edit to look however they want, to save Dotnia from Fuelle, and possibly Dark King Onyx as well…
