Take-Two Interactive released its Q3 2008 financial report today (September 4, 2008) which showed promising results. Besides the companies rise in net income to the tune of $51.8 million, Take-Two confirmed two big titles for its fiscal 2009 year which starts November 1, 2008,and ends on January 31, 2009: We can expect Bioshock 2 and GTA: Chinatown Wars to be available early next year if everything continues in development.
From the report…
Need for Speed: Undercover for Wii will be more than just a port
Need for Speed: Undercover will be released on every current console and handheld device on November 18, 2008. Games with multiplatform releases are usually stripped down versions of the game on more powerful consoles, but in this case NFSU for Wii is a unique experience.Gamecyte conducted an interview with the game’s producer, Tim Fields, about what makes the Wii version of NFSU so much different than the rest.
NFSU for the Wii was built specifically for the console. Some of the controls are so unique to the Wii other consoles can’t pull it off. Take the Logitech Speed Force Wireless Racing Wheel, for example. This wheel was built with the Wii version of NFSU in mind and is currently the only game the wheel will work with…

Pre-order Prince of Persia, get Limited Edition upgrade for free
I’ve been writing a lot about collector’s editions to some very popular titles but those games all required additional cash. It’s really one of those take-it-or-leave-it situations that mostly hardcore fans would respond to. In a twist of events worthy of a M. Night Shyamalan film, those who pre-order(ed) the new Prince of Persia game will receive the Limited Edition version automatically complete with a bag of goodies…
Microsoft confirms Xbox 360 price drops
Microsoft has finally fessed up to one of the worst kept secrets of the summer. After seeing ads and SKU inquiries hinting at the possibility of lower prices, it’s about time the rumors are put to rest.
Starting September 5, 2008, Microsoft will drop the prices on all versions of the Xbox 360. The Arcade price will be…
Beer Bounce hits on the (hic) iPhone (hic) and iPod Touch (burp)
Now here is a game we’re almost certain to hear more about in the coming weeks as parents from all over join up to save the children. As if Frat Party Games: Pong Toss (formerly known as Frat Party Games: Beer Pong) wasn’t enough to quell the idea of game centered around beer, Publisher X is ready to dive head first into the madness by releasing Beer Bounce for the iPhone and iPod touch for $2.99.
The object of this game may be familiar to some. You have to try to bounce a quarter, or another type of international coinage, into a glass of beer to win. Failure to do so will result in the chugging of beer after beer. As you become progressively wasted, the screen will begin to get blurry and weave about, making gameplay even more difficult. You may even get a laugh or two as your buddies and fellow bar patrons throw insults at you.
This 6.8MB game is getting great reviews on iTunes so far. It’s a cheap way to get a quick thrill without getting the authorities involved.

Future PSP firmware updates hint at new features for Fall 2008
The PSP refuses to back down despite some claims of impending doom. Today (September 2, 2008), Sony Japan let loose a few details regarding future firmware updates to the handheld. These updates will focus mainly on the networking capabilities of the PSP instead of adding more trinkets to the XMB. Luckily the update will work on all new and old PSP models.
PSP owners will finally be able to access the PlayStation Store without using the PS3’s remote play feature or a PC. Full games, demos, wallpapers and themes can be downloaded straight on the PSP through a wireless internet connection. While this feature eliminates the need for the PS3, another upgrade to the software further expands…
Escort Missions: Possibly the most hated task in video games
Rick “32 Footsteps” Healey wrote a lengthy post on Netjak describing the tedious task known as the escort mission that has remained virtually unchanged since it was first introduced so many years ago.
The main problem with escort missions is your so-called partner artificial intelligence (AI). Most of the time they walk blindly into the line of fire with no regard for themselves. This makes the character we control more vulnerable to injury because we have to become meat shields to guard our precious escort.
Naturally, any chance of stealthily making it to your destination goes up in smoke in this…
