Xbox Live Arcade Update for the week of November 12-18, 2007

Gamertell Xbox Live Arcade Weekly Update

On Wednesday, November 14, 2007, two new games become available to Xbox Live Silver and Gold subscribers at approximately 1 a.m. (Pacific Time): Screwjumper! and Shrek~n~Roll. Both games are priced at 800 Microsoft Points each ($10 US).

Players can add Microsoft Points to their account by simply clicking on that option from the download screen of the game.

Screwjumper! is a fast paced action game where players will be able to fly characters with jet packs through multiple levels while blowing up any obstacles in they’re way.  Screwjumper! includes four single player modes; Destruction, Race, Time Trial, Score and also features multiplayer over Xbox Live.

Shrek~n~Roll is a puzzle game intended for children of all ages where the player must guide the characters through various mazes. Features include single player mode, versus mode, co-op mode and score attack mode.

Project Gotham Racing 4 update

Game developer Bizarre Creations announced today (August 23, 2007) that its popular arcade racer, Project Gotham Racing 4, is set for a release date of October 2, 2007, in North America on the Xbox 360.  While originally slated for a release in September 2007, Bizarre Creations apparently decided not to compete with the slew of highly anticipated titles due out for the Xbox 360 that month, most notably Halo 3 and Mass Effect

Halo Wars playable demo at E3 2007

According to Thunder, a moderator on the official Halo Wars forums, the upcoming real-time strategy game for the Xbox 360 will make an appearance at E3 2007 this week. 

Here is an excerpt from the post where he made the announcement:

“The good news for Halo Wars fans who have been hanging in there waiting for more information and or images from the game is that we will be showing a small demo of the game for select members of the press at E3 2007.  The team here at Ensemble Studios has been at work on preparing the demo for the last couple of weeks and it has come together nicely.  It just shows a small slice of our game off to give the press an idea of what we’re all about.”

    Band of Bugs thumbOn Wednesday, June 20, 2007, a new turn-based strategy game titled Band of Bugs was released by developer Ninja Bee on Xbox Live Arcade for 800 Microsoft Points ($10 US). 

    Although the game appeals to fans of turn-based strategy games like Worms, the gameplay is said to be easy enough for causal gamers to pick up and play as well. 

    The game includes a single player story mode and multiplayer modes (Elimination, Escape, and Capture) over Xbox Live for up to eight players.  This is also one of the few games out now to offer…

    Halo 3 achievements revealed

    Although the Halo 3 beta test period is over for Xbox Live subscribers, details about Microsoft’s juggernaut first person shooter continue to spread all over the net. Xbox360achievements.org has published a detailed list of 49 achievements for the upcoming game which are said to be final except perspective point values, which may still change.

    Prince of Persia Classic on Xbox 360

    On Wednesday, June 13, 2007, Xbox 360 owners with an Xbox Live Gold or Silver account will be able to download Prince of Persia Classic for 800 (US$10) Microsoft Points.  The game is a remake of the original Prince of Persia released for the Apple II in 1989. 

    This new version includes updated graphics, updated character designs, new puzzles, new traps, new enemies and 12 Xbox 360 achievements.  The game also contains three different modes of play including normal mode, time attack and survival mode.

    Mad Tracks debuts on Xbox Live Arcade

    Microsoft and publisher D3 have announced micro-racer Mad Tracks was scheduled to be made available on Xbox Live Arcade this past Wednesday at 2 a.m. Pacific time.  Mad Tracks is a racing game where the players take control of miniature toy cars. 

    For 800 Microsoft Points ($10), the game includes nine mini-games and six different races playable in both Championship and Arcade modes, as players race each other through giant sized levels such as living room, ballroom, kitchen, mini golf course and the open road.  Mad Tracks will have 12 different cars to choose from, and offers online or offline split-screen play for up to four players.

    Gears of War update

    In a recent message posted on the official Gears of War forums, Epic’s Vice President Mark Rein said this about the next update for the Xbox 360’s popular first-person shooter, “The next Gears of War update is coming along nicely.  We don’t have a release timeframe for it yet but I just wanted to let you know we’re making significant progress.“

    The update contains new achievements for the game based on the newest online mode Annex and the Hidden Fronts map pack.  Also included with the update will be improvements to some gameplay issues such as the previously updated run and cover controls, which the game’s designers call roadie run, and fixes to some of the glitches players have been exploiting in online matches.

    The update will be free to all players with the game and an Xbox Live account.
