Midway served delisting notice by the New York Stock Exchange

midway logoAfter posting a $76 million loss in revenue for the third quarter, Midway has been issued a delisting notice from the New York Stock Exchange. According to GameSpot UK, the notice came after the struggling developer failed to close above $1 a share, the minimum required closing price for the New York Stock Exchange, within 30 days of trading.

Italian teen is diagnosed with “PlayStation Addiction” by politician

Ananova reports that a 13-year-old Italian boy has been diagnosed with “PlayStation Addiction.“ Curiously, the diagnosis did not come from the doctors at the hospital who treated the boy but by a local Italian politician named Antonio Buccoliero (a Regional Councilor of Puglia, Italy). According to Ananova, Buccoliero said,  “They eventually managed to take care of him once they understood that this was a strange kind of mental detachment connected to his Playstation.“

Free Spore Patch 3 adds 24 limbs

spore screen shot limbsIn celebration of the release of the Creepy & Cute Parts Pack expansion for Spore, EA has thrown players 24 new exoskeleton limbs to toy with.

The patch containing the new parts can be downloaded via the EA Download Manager and from EA’s web site. The patch is available for both PC and Mac.

Study debunks belief that playing with your Wii can lead to aggression

Certainly inspired by the controversy controversy surrounding the Wii release of Manhunt 2, a study titled “An examination of psychoticism and motion capture controls as moderators of the effects of violent video games” (Patrick M. Harmonix founders getting $300 million in bonuses for Rock Band

Bloomberg is reporting that Viacom will be paying Harmonix co-founders Alex Rigopulos and Eran Egozy a total of $300 million in bonuses for the runaway success of Rock Band.

The huge payday for the two men is part of the conditions of Viacom’s purchase of Harmonix, which occurred back in 2006. Rigopulos and Egoz have already received $150 million from Viacom during the third quarter of 2008. They will earn at least an additional $150 million in 2009 as a reward for Rock Band‘s popularity far exceeding…

Man hacks Chrono Trigger to propose to girlfriend

Guys using videogames to propose to their girlfriends is nothing new but this story officially raises the bar for nerdy romantics everywhere. 1UP is reporting that a man on YouTube, who goes by the username “TheRealPfhreak,“ recently decided to use the Square-Enix classic Chrono Trigger as the vehicle for his marriage proposal.

Only he didn’t just hack the game to make it display a special message but created an entire new area in the game for his girlfriend to explore, filled with references to their memories together. Said the groom-to-be:

“On October 17, 2008, I proposed to my (now) fiance. Originally I wanted to return to the site of our first date, Mount Baker, near Bellingham, Washington. Sadly, there was no discrete way to get her out there. So I turned to the next best thing, digitally recreating the mountain!
