PhoneSaber upgrades and transforms to Lightsaber Unleashed
Freebies are awesome, especially when they are inspired by a popular series. TheMacBox has just updated its free lightsaber iPhone/iPod Touch program PhoneSaber and given it a catchy new moniker - Lightsaber Unleashed. The name change comes from the fact that the program is now an official Star Wars app and includes Star Wars: The Force Unleashed lightsabers, characters and sounds.
There’s a few extra goodies in the latest update, aside from the name change and The Force Unleashed extras added. The layout of the program has been changed. Dueling music has also been added, and the screen will flash if your lightsaber lands a hit, so it should make fake lightsaber battles among friends a bit more interesting. The one thing that hasn’t changed is the price - it is still free…
Gamertell Review: Star Wars: The Force Unleashed Mobile
Title: Star Wars: The force Unleashed Mobile
Price: $13.49 (N-gage pricing: 1 Day for $2.99, 7 Days for $6.99, Full Version for $13.49)
System(s): Mobile (includes *N-Gage, iPhone, iPod Touch)
Release Date: September 16, 2008
Publisher (Developer): THQ Wireless (Universomo)
ESRB Rating: Not Rated
Pros: Really nice graphics, classic Star Wars sound effects and innovative CellWeaver control scheme.
Cons: Physical design of device’s buttons truly effects the enjoyment and playability. Unskipable cutscenes, Midi soundtrack is instead of MP3. No lightsaber slashing action. Very short.
Overall Score: One thumb up, one thumb down; 78/100; C+; * * 1/2 out of five.
For the Mobile version of this much-publicized Star Wars game, the developers took a cue from the DS release and created a unique control scheme based on the physical nature of the system. All the smartphone incarnations of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed Mobile rely on the phone’s number pad to tap out patterns to activate various Force powers. On the iPhone and iPod Touch, you use the touchscreen to draw similar patterns.
It’s innovative and sometimes fun but not quite the action-filled, lightsaber slashing game you’d expect from the Star Wars franchise.

Labyrinth lovers prepare for Rock’n’Roll on iPhone, iPod Touch
A new casual/puzzle/platforming game has just been released on the iTunes App Store for the iPhone and iPod Touch - Rock’n’Roll. The object is simple, get through a maze, collecting items and then finding your way out. Its the latest title from Tag Games. If you’re interested, its only $4.99 for the 16.2mb game, and it is rated 9+.
Unfortunately, it seems there may be a problem with Rock’n’Roll. So far, as of 11:28am CST on September 29, 2008, it has two one star reviews. Both reviews claim that the game crashes on them. Hopefully these are isolated incidents…
Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords coming to iPhone, iPod Touch
Just when you thought a game was everywhere, you learn that it still has one more front to conquer. I’m speaking, of course, of Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords. Previously, the puzzle/role playing game invaded cell phones, every major video game console (PS2, PS3, Wii and Xbox 360), every handheld system (DS and PSP) and computers (Mac and PC). Now, TransGaming Inc. has announced that it is adapting Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords for the iPhone and iPod Touch.
An actual launch date hasn’t been announced, but TransGaming is working with D3Publisher and hoping to have Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords up in the iTunes App Store before the end of Fall 2008. A price also hasn’t been set, and no rating has been assigned. Previous versions of the game were rated Everyone 10+, so the iPhone/iPod Touch version will probably carry a similar rating…
Beer Bounce for $0.99 (hic) for iPhone, iPod Touch (hic)
Earlier in September 2008, Publisher X risked facing the wrath from all the do gooders in the world by releasing Beer Bounce on the App Store for use on the iPhone and iPod Touch. The game has a simple premise involving bouncing many types of coin currency into a beer mug. If that sounds like something you do every Friday night, you might want to hold on to a few of those coins because Beer Bounce is now available for the special promotion price of $.99.
The promotion started…
