Gamertell Review: Beijing 2008 for Xbox 360

by PJ Hruschak on Aug 21, 2008 at 05:38 PM

gamertell beijing 2008 olympics summer games sega box art

Title: Beijing 2008 (aka Beijing Olympics 2008, Beijing 2008 Olympics, Beijing 2008 Summer Olympics)
Price: $49.99 ($29.99 as PC Download)
System(s): *Xbox 360, PS3, PC/Download (Mobile)
Release Date: July 8, 2008
Publisher (Developer): Sega (Eurocom)
ESRB Rating: “Everyone”
Pros: Includes a lot of events and character graphics are rather impressive.
Cons: Too much thumbstick twitching, too many awkward movements and poorly queued events. Too much clicking to get to an actual event.
Overall Score: One thumb sideways, one thumb down; 65/100; D; * 1/2 out of five.

With events already completed and the Beijing 2008 Olympics soon coming to an end, it’s very likely more than a few gamers will still have that Olympic itch, the desire to compete and a residual want of track and field sports.

Kill time with Death Race on mobile phones

by Jeremy Hill on Aug 10, 2008 at 11:16 AM

Death Race Mustang

I don’t know about you but when I’m driving I often wonder what my car would look like with a .50 caliber Gatling gun sticking out from my hood. Due to a few pesky laws, that fantasy will only live in my mind. However, we can all live out our fantasies of non-consequential vehicular combat when Death Race flies into theaters on August 22, 2008. Until then Gameloft has taken up the rights to publish a game based on Death Race for mobile phones which will be available on all major carriers sometime in August 2008.

Death Race is a remake of the 1975 film Death Race 2000. It takes place in a…

Disney Interactive logoFashionably late - on the second day of E3 (July 15, 2008), Disney Interactive has officially unveiled its video game lineup for the event. The company will be showing its wares in Meeting Room 309 at the event. As expected, the titles mainly cater to the younger generation of gamers and many new incarnations in popular franchises.

The games below will all likely be billed as family friendly, all ages titles. Some of the most anticipated titles include Pure, Disney Sing It and High School Musical 3: Senior Year DANCE!. Too bad Disney Sing It‘s description doesn’t mention any classic Disney tunes - if it had songs from the original, animated movies, then I’d want it.

So in Disney Interactive’s own words, from its press release, game descriptions of all its forthcoming titles…

by Jenni Lada on Jul 11, 2008 at 01:10 PM

Midway Games logoMidway Games, like most other considerate E3 attendees, has announced a list of games which it will be displaying at the event. It looks like, this year, Midway is going a somewhat safe route when it comes to games, as it will be showing off new installments in its popular Mortal Kombat, Unreal Tournament and Touchmaster series at the event.

Games like Unreal Tournament 3 (Xbox 360), Wheelman (PS3, Xbox 360, PC) and Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe (PS3, Xbox 360) are being released for Midway’s faithful fans, while titles like Touchmaster 2 (DS) and Game Party 2 (Wii) are for casual players.

Without further ado, Midway Games’ official E3 games list taken directly from the press release…
