Chrono Trigger DS is official

by Danielle Riendeau on Jul 2, 2008 at 01:26 PM

Chrono Trigger Zeal
RPG fans rejoice - Square Enix has officially confirmed previously reported rumors that Chrono Trigger will be coming to the DS. Kotaku is reporting that game will arrive this holiday season and will make use of the touch screen controls. Additionally, there will be a brand new dungeon and wi-fi multiplayer battles.

From the press release:

“Originally released in 1995 on Super NES and shipping more than 2.5 million copies worldwide, CHRONO TRIGGER has been hailed as one of the greatest games of all time by critics and fans alike. With a unique and multifaceted storyline, the game revolutionized the world of RPGs with never-before-seen features, including an unprecedented soundtrack and multiple endings determined by side quests and the player’s actions.”

Not that anyone’s watching, but I’m doing a Robo-style victory dance right now. This just officially became the first game on my Christmas wish list. Who’s with me?

The infamous “Klobb” makes an appearance in Too Human

by Danielle Riendeau on Jul 1, 2008 at 11:35 AM

Klobb
Remember the Klobb? You know, the crappiest, least accurate gun in GoldenEye 007? Well, it’s coming back in Too Human. According to a post at GameLife, the Klobb will be one of the hundreds of weapons and items in the game.

The original GoldenEye gun was named after Nintendo’s Ken Lobb, who’s now Creative Director of Microsoft Game Studios (and working alongside developer Silicone Knights on the current title), so it looks as if the dubious honor has carried over. Let’s hope that they beef up the Klobb’s stats for the new game - remember how hilariously awful it was on the N64? I have so many fond memories of Klobb-infested multiplayer matches from back in the day.

by Christopher Buckner on Jun 24, 2008 at 12:51 PM

call of duty world at war

After ten million units sold in just seven months after the November, 2007 release of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Activision is hoping that gamers are ready to strap their combat boots back on and return once again to the theater of war, but which theaters? Well apparently, World War Two hasn’t quite been won yet.

Call of Duty: World at War will return the franchise back to the Second World War roots, but this time we’ll get to jump from the Atlantic theater and take the fight to the Japanese on the Pacific side of the war.

Nintendo DS the next alternative to smoking

by Lucy Newman on Jun 22, 2008 at 03:31 PM

Nintedo DS an alternative to smokingWe all have bad habits we’re trying to free ourselves from. Whether its drinking, speeding, or in my case caffeine and chocolate. One of the more popular vices everyone would like to see vanish is smoking. Yep, down with the nicotine sticks, no more dancing with cancer these days. But if you have friends who smoke like I do, asking them to stop will result in their telling you to ‘butt’ out or blow that defiant puff in your face.

It’s a habit that people find difficult to shake, especially if they’ve been smoking for quite a long time, rendering the nicotine patches, gums and carrot sticks useless. But in Canada, members of the Allen Carr Team - founded by anti-smoking guru Allen Carr - found a way to help smokers break their habit with the help of a Nintendo DS.

Remember WarDevil? Well, it ain’t dead yet

by Christopher Buckner on Apr 30, 2008 at 11:50 PM

wardevilThere are some games that get a lot of attention when first revealed but then you don’t hear anything from them for months, if not years. WarDevil is one of those games.

First showed to the public back at E3 2004 and developed by United Kingdom based Digi-Guys, WarDevil was one of those first next-generation games that really showed what the PlayStation 3 technology was capable of doing. So much so that even my own college animation class studied it for a time. Digi-Guys would reveal another taste of WarDevil back at 2006’s E3, but in all that time, there hasn’t been a peep released about the game until now…
