Playstation Store Update for the week of August 14-20, 2008
We’ve got a Capcom-a-thon going on for this week’s Playstation Store upadte. Bionic Commando‘s supposedly very well-done remake is now available (and I still need to beat the NES original) alongside the original Street Fighter Alpha. While many talk down to the first SFA, as it’s less refined than the second game and less feature and character-packed than the third, it’s an extremely solid fighter on its own merits with a decent cast and some excellent music. Well worth the cash if you haven’t forked it out already for, say, the PS1 version it’s ported from or Street Fighter Alpha Anthology on the PS2.
Oh, and one final thing about the Rock Band songs for this week. They’re available at a dollar a pop or for six for the whole pack for this month only. Then, they go up to $2 each and $10 for the pack.

Playstation Store Update for the week of August 7-13, 2008
So there’s nothing new to play on this week’s update. Instead, we get another issue of Qore and a ton of videos. Some bonuses lurk within, however. Annual subscribers to Qore will get a spot on the Resistance 2 beta, exposing players to yet another great helping of World War II and space aliens which are both so sorely underused in this industry. Also, downloading the Home wallpaper will automatically sign you up for a possible crack at the Home beta.

More Trophies added to Buzz! Quiz TV via patch
By now I’m sure all you Trophy hounds out there have your hands full gathering the numerous digital accolades of PixelJunk Eden and Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune. It doesn’t seem like you’ll be able to rest anytime soon because there are more Trophies to be had in Buzz! Quiz TV. The next time you boot the game on your PS3 you’ll be prompted to update the game with the latest patch.
The game has 18 Trophies (three groups of 6) that we know of and there’s a possibility that six more hidden Trophies stashed somewhere on the disc. Only after discovering those will you be able to unlock the coveted…
Playstation Store update for the week of July 31 to August 6, 2008
The main feature of today’s Playstation Store update is PixelJunk Eden ($10) and, for an epic co-winky-dink, I figured just what the hell that game is. Or, at least, I saw it in action and appreciate it for the sperm ovulation simulation it truly is. Talk about abstract. It does have some funky music, though.
Anyhow, let’s get right to the list…
Playstation Store Update for the week of July 24-30, 2008
This week on the Playstation Store, we’ve got things that are actually interesting For starters, for only this week, a bunch of traditionally $10 games are now going for half-price. On the regular-priced front, there are a couple of treats: the PSP version of the classic Parappa the Rapper (a must-buy) and 1942: Joint Strike, a remake of Capcom’s maiden World War II-based shmup (1941 would’ve been preferable, but it’s worth a look), along with the episodic debut of the PS3’s first survival horror game, Siren: Blood Call.

Warner Bros. making episodic Watchmen game
The upcoming graphic novel turned film The Watchmen will also be made into a videogame in 2009. Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announced July 24,2008, that the game will be based on the movie with an emphasis on the character personalities. Warner Bros. promises The Watchmen videogame will be an episodic experience available on Playstation Network, Xbox Live and PC.
Warner Bros. is taking a slightly different approach to producing a videogame tie-in to a movie. Given that history of movie-based games as being, well, less than stellar, Warner Bros. has decided to release at least two…
Penny Arcade on the Playstation Network
The first episode of Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness will finally be appearing another major game console - the PS3. Hothead Games has announced that the game will be released on the Playstation Network before the end of Fall 2008.
The PS3 version of the Penny Arcade game will be exactly the same as the Xbox 360 and computer versions of the title, just conveniently ported to the other console. A price hasn’t been set yet, but it will reportedly be in line with the prices for the previous versions.
PlayStation video store goes live
At the time of this writing (10:47p.m. CT, July 15, 2008), I'm checking out the newly released Playstation movie download store as promised by Jack Trenton during Sony’s E3 press conference earlier today. I must say the store has launched with an impressive number of titles. You can download both movies and television shows. Everything is broken down into genre categories. You can also search for titles alphabetically.
One of the first things I’ve noticed was the tabs that direct you to titles that can be rented or purchased. Sixty-five movies from the action/adventure genre are…

Download Gurumin at the Playstation Store
A first has just happened at the Playstation Store - a third party PSP game is available for purchase. Gurumin: A Monsterous Adventure, from Mastiff and Nihon Falcom, is now available for $14.99. It’s a 716mb download, so make sure your memory card has enough space.
Gurumin stars Parin, a young girl who is sent to live with her grandpa in a deserted mountain town. She’s the only kid there, so initially she’s a bit lonely. Then she meets two friendly monsters, and is invited to the Monster Village adjacent to the town. She makes friends and everything’s cool, until some bad spirits known as the Phantoms abduct all the friendly monsters. Parin steps up, grabs the Legendary Drill, and goes to save her monster friends.
