Wolfenstein at E3 2008, two videos to oogle
At E3 2008, Activision and a representative of id announced that they are working on a follow up for Return to Castle Wolfenstein. Details at the moment are hard to find, outside of the press conference given at E3.
For those of you who haven’t been too involved with the evolution of Wolfenstein, id took the franchise for a turn that made it more popular in 1992 with…
How To: Link your Playstation Underground and Network IDs to create a Portable ID
With the E3 2008 announcements and Playstation network upgrades, Sony has chosen this week to allow its users to link their Playstation Underground IDs and their Playstation network IDs. Calling it a Portable ID, going through the process generates an image with your avatar in it as well as some code around it that links to your ID page.

Namco Bandai sings the praises of the Eternal Sonata PS3 edition at E3
If you’ve been wondering what extra goodies are included in the PS3 version of Eternal Sonata, then look no further. Namco Bandai issued a new press release during E3 detailing the changes to the RPG originally released on the Xbox 360. Eternal Sonata is a Japanese RPG starring Frederic Chopin’s, a 19th century composer, adventures in a dream world while he lies on his deathbed in the real world.
Owners of the Xbox 360 version of Eternal Sonata should be jealous. The PS3 version features two new playable characters, Serenade and Crescendo. It also adds new outfits for all of the existing characters and additional songs to the soundtrack. If cosmetic changes aren’t your thing, then perhaps new dungeons, some extra quests and extra endings would please you.
Soul Calibur IV news from E3
Namco Bandai discussed the marketing plan for Soul Calibur IV at E3, as well as mentioning that the Xbox 360 and PS3 game has gone gold. The latest title, which will feature three Star Wars characters (Yoda, Darth Vader and Darth Vader’s secret apprentice) and special characters from Japanese manga artists, will be released July 29, 2008 in normal ($59.99) and premium ($79.99) editions.
The first portion of the Soul Calibur IV marketing plan is a huge ad campaign. There will be 15 and 30 second commercials on cable stations in the US and Canada during July and August, 2008. There will also be ads online and in magazines, and supposedly retail partnerships.

More on MAG the self-proclaimed “massive action game”
Sony and Zipper Interactive revealed a new online game to add to their repertoire. The game is MAG, short for “Massive Action Game” and massive is no joke.
MAG supports up to 256 players in one game at one time, putting a bit of stress on even the PS3’s harware. This allows for full campaigns that could will make a long-running shooter experience.
At E3, Andy Beaudoin (Lead Designer for Zipper Interactive) introduced the game and gave some details before showing a trailer of the game. He said they wanted to…
Wheelman carted out for E3 2008
Upcoming game Wheelman seems like a take off of the Driver franchise with a couple of original additions.
First is Diesel. Both his voice and his likeness will be used to bring the Burik to life, if he succeeds, that is. Backing up Vin Diesel to help Midway make the game look like a movie is Tigon Studios. The chases are inspired by some of Hollywood’s most famous action sequences. Hopefully some inspired by the occasionally overly intricate chases in the Bourne trilogy of films will exist. Due to the inspiration from Hollywood’s most famous chases, it will apparently deliver powerful…
Resident Evil 5 impresses at E3
Resident Evil 5 has been shaping up to be one of the most anticipated and controversial title within the franchise. Due to Capcom’s brilliant idea of discussing a movie for an entire hour during their press conference we were left with no new information on RE5. But Capcom wasn’t going to completely pull a fast one the folks at E3 as they released a new trailer, some co-op gameplay footage, and some info surrounding the control scheme.
The plot surrounding the game is still pretty vague as of this moment but here’s what we know: The game will take place ten years after the events in RE and Chris Redfield is the…
Konami press conference recap
If I could use a phrase to describe Konami’s press conference (2:30 p.m. PT, Wednesday, July 16, 2008) it would be, “ It started with a bang and ended with a thud.”
Konami already had a solid lineup to unveil to the masses with two new Castlevania games and Silent Hill: Homecoming and were well on their way to being the bright spot when it came to third party pressers for the event. The conference began with news about Metal Gear Online and the new Elebits for the DS.
From that point on we got some great information, gameplay and demos from the Castlevania and Silent Hill franchises and then not so much. Rock Revolution premiered last as Senior Product Manager, Lauren Facadomo, brought her all-girl cover band to play The Ramones, Blitzkrieg Pop. Talk about bad Joey, Dee Dee, and Johnny Ramon are all spinning in their graves right now. It only got worst from there.

The big deal about LittleBigPlanet and “coopertition”
Sony has been putting a lot of muscle behind hyping up LittleBigPlanet. It is one of the big name titles that is going to be released in October of 2008. From what we’ve seen LittleBigPlanet prides itself on being a seemingly endless experience. Just about anything can be created and shared through the PlayStation Network. It’s also one of the first games to heavily rely on user-created content.
Media Molecule coined the phrase “coopertition” when describing some of the unique stages…
