Target’s Black Friday video game sales might hit the mark

As Thanksgiving draws closer, even more of the major retailers’ Black Friday ads leak out. One of the latest scans is for Target, and it features a nice selection of video game deals. While there are a few shovelware-ish titles tossed in, there are some nice deals to be had. Target also seems to have one of the best organized ads, with clearly labeled game and accessory prices. If you’re looking for a gift for a younger gamer, or for someone with a PS3 or Xbox 360, Target may be the place to look.
The various video game deals, as shown in the Black Friday ad scan, are as follows…
Street Fighter IV not coming to US arcades
Gamers who have been looking forward to Street Fighter IV will be comforted by the fact that the title will appear on the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 on February 17, 2009.
As for the arcade circuit, however, Street Fighter IV will not place an appearance there, according to Capcom’s senior director of communications and community, Chris Kramer, as quoted by this article on Edge Online.
Of course, this news, while tragic, is not really surprising considering that…
Nominees for Spike TV’s Video Game Awards announced
Another year and another Video Game Awards show. Better known as SpikeTV’s VGAs, this will be the sixth year for the show.
Love it or loath it the show will go on in full spectacle that will include a performance by rapper turned-video game character, 50 Cent, and a “Gamer God” award for Will Wright.
The list this year looks fairly promising without too much of one game in your face like last year’s seven nominations for a certain alien-shooting game and a game about an undersea dystopia.

Midway to perform fatalities on its staff after major title releases
I sure hope Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe is a good game.
Actually, I hope it is a great game not only because I consider myself a fan of the series but because it may be the only way in which Midway can pull itself out of the proverbial fire.
The company has been struggling of late to the point where it has had to go through some extreme measures just to complete one of its high-profile games. These struggles have resulted in staff members being handed pink slips in its Austin, TX (USA), studio.
Sadly, it’s looking like more…
Street Fighter IV coming to North American, Europe in Feburary 2009
All betting windows are now closed. No more guessing and wagering to be done as Capcom has officially announced the release dates for the home versions of Street Fighter IV.
The next chapter in the fighting game series will launch February 17, 2009, in North America and February 20, 2009, in Europe respectively. The game will also launch February 2009 in Japan as well. Both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the game will launch at the same time.
As for the PC version…
Best Buy’s Black Friday 2008 ad either awesome or hoax

There are two sides to Black Friday ads. There are ones where you can instantly tell they are the real deal, and then there are questionable ads which look authentic, but are just a hoax. The Best Buy 2008 Black Friday ad, which has just popped up on the internet falls into the later category.
If it is real, then there are going to be some fantastic video game deals at Best Buy stores this season. We’ve looked through the ad and created a list of what this “possible” Black Friday 2008 Best Buy’s deals are. Please note that, in a few instances, a games’ title or platform may not be able to be discerned due to the bad quality of the ad scan…
Sven shines some light on Sony’s approval process
We know you guys are anxiously awaiting a certain Capcom reinvigorated fighting game to hit your favorite digital distribution servers but Capcom asks you to patiently wait a little bit longer.
In the meantime, during its Ask Capcom Round-up, a question-and-answer round between Capcom’s offical forum goers and the big man himself, Christian “Sven” Svensson, one of the forum patrons asked the question a lot of us have had on our minds: “How long does the approval process usually take”? To which Mr. Svensson replied:
“Depends on the territory and the time of year/how busy the submissions team is. It also depends on…

Kmart’s 2008 Thanksgiving ad leaked (Updated)
Black Friday (aka the Friday after Thanksgiving) has almost become an unofficial holiday. People across the US scan the internet and newspapers for the best sale circulars, all to help plan out their holiday lists. With money tight this year, people will want to get as much information as quickly as possible so they can be sure they got the best prices.
The latest ad revelation concerns Kmart’s Thanksgiving 2008 sales, as multiple Black Friday websites are reporting discounted items and showing scans of the store’s circular. Their video game sales focus this year appears to be on Wii and PS2 games but there are a few other sales as well.
Black Friday Ads managed to procure and scan in the entire Kmart Thanksgiving ad circular, which you can view online or download to your computer for more leisurely perusal. Black Friday.info and TheBlackFriday.com also have information posted on all of the store’s sale items.

Under the Radar: Potentially overshadowed games for Christmas 2008
This year is no doubt a fantastic time to be a gamer. It’s not often that I can count triple-A titles on both my hands in such a short period of time. Sadly though, with every great game released another good game gets lost in its shadow.
It’s time to acknowledge the existence of these games before they fade into the background. Every major console has at least one promising game that won’t get much coverage in the coming months. Give these games a try before you get too immersed in Resistance 2 or Gears 2. You just may be happy you did…
